New plans unveiled by Jack Wills to ramp up its wholesale operations in the UK and overseas have been announced after SuperGroup international business development head Greg Roberts joined the business.
Since Peter Williams, founder and chief executive, returned to the business in 2015, this is the first time that Jack Wills have embarked on a wholesale expansion strategy.
Roberts, with the newly created role of wholesale director will be focusing on expanding Jack Wills wholesale business in the UK and launching its wholesale division in Northern Europe, Asia, North America and the Middle East.
Williams commented, “We can now begin a targeted and sophisticated strategy to build the wholesale business at home in the UK and in important markets overseas. This will significantly grow our sales and international footprint, and increase the awareness and presence of the brand globally.
“We have never before had the resource, investment or scale to do this and it has been the missing piece of the jigsaw. In order to build on our growth and success to date and take us to the next level we need to meaningfully develop this side of the business to properly grow our sales, profit and margin.”
Roberts has plenty of experience in this area having joined SuperGroup in 2011, where he built and led direct subsidiaries in North America and managed numerous global franchise and licence partnerships, as well as a joint venture agreement in China.
Williams added “Greg is one of the best in the industry and I am absolutely delighted that he will be joining us to take on responsibility for making this new project a huge success.”
Sales grew 4% to £142.4m with an operating profit of £730,000 in Jack Wills last full-year to 29th January 2017.
